When testing a new divination technique (you can read about it HERE), my Guides told me a story about the Cloak and Armor of the Ancients – a symbolism that has been distorted and misunderstood through time.
I will give the full story/ points below so you can see the intricacies for yourself, but I think it needs a little context first. For me, all the points make complete sense because I have been working in these lessons and consents with Them for many years.
The Cloak
The Cloak is the personal spiritual journey. What we learn through our Guides/ Deities, the challenges we over come, the foundations we build within ourselves and for ourselves. It is the tools and techniques we create in the process for our own personal path. It is the skills and abilities we develop within ourselves. It is why the culmination of the Cloak is “knowing the true self” because through the spiritual journey that is what we discover. It is the point of the work.
The Cloak is the representation of our spiritual journey. Every stitch in it comes from the choices we make. Its color is the reflection of our energy. The intricate designs woven into it is the bonds and foundations we create in the journey. It is not a material cloak but one of energy that wraps around us.
The Armor
The Armor is built in the Living. How we move, speak, act, and create in the material/physical world. It is not separate from the Cloak – it is an extension of it, growing from it. The Cloak gives us the “whys” of the movement – our foundations, our bonds, our needs, our desires, our morals, what we hold sacred.
Our Armor is built in action. That means our actions, the way we live, need to be aligned with what we create in our cloak, our internal self, our spiritual life. This is how we live a balanced life. It is how we achieve the Mastery of Self. It is also how we create magic, shifting – weaving – blending energies for a desired outcome. It is how we create on the Web. It is how we change our life, our world, the physical life we are experiencing. From within, and then moving it outwards – this not only changes us, how we perceive and experience the world around us, but it ripples out and changes the world because of it.
The culmination of the work in building the Armor is Mastery of Voice, Soul, and Magic.
The more we Live and Move in harmony between the cloak and armor, the stronger they become, the stronger we become, the better life we experience. It does not mean that the society/ world changes – it is us that changes. The more “us” that change in this way, the more the world changes. Even if it doesn’t though, even if others keep creating suffering and damage, the world still changes for us personally, because we are seeing and moving in it differently. This will make more sense when you have walked this path.
The Cloak and Armor of the Ancients

Cloak
It’s core is built in the Well, from the Well path – the Spiritual Journey.
Shield (Guides) Horn (Voice) Sword (Runes) – awakens the Will.
What we reap/ build within it: exchange to create deep roots with our bonds – harnessed and imbued into (cloak and staff)
The Purpose: the needs of the clan and self care. “the water moves between the sky and earth, an eternal cycle of transmutation”
In Use (action): ancestors/ ancestral soul magic, approach with integrity, being of good character and nature – storytelling, listening to and sharing stories that expand and help ourselves and others. Understanding the depths and lessons in them.
Spell-casting/ manifesting, let intuition lead you to the development of skills and accuracy.
The Guardians/ Guides, take responsibility for your part. Acknowledge bad habits that distract or distort in order to remedy. The connection/ bond with divine is all that matters (divine being your primary guides/ nature/ soul)
Fire: adapting the elements over time creates your legacy
Earth: Hope and magic start with the vision
Air: Collaboration, working together, requires trust and love.
Water: Knowing through experience and concrete evaluation of that experience is the culmination of the work. Knowing the true self is the culmination of the cloak.
Armor
The Armor is built and used for the Needs of the Clan (your community) and for Self Care. It is used to strike and defend – the choice lays in you.
We draw the warrior with it, strength and healing. It is the witch’s armor, unseen yet ever present. It requires sacrifice “For prosperity, we sacrifice ourselves to ourselves”
It grows in the sun, living in our bonds with our guides, in the wisdom we gain in the journey, and standing fearless in our faith/ beliefs.
It grows in vitality when we balance our priorities – finding the rhythm and balance in the polarity/dualities being faced. Our choices, decisions, and judgments can not be from a place of negative dominance. Some desires are not worth taking action for. Let your actions be guided by being in the service to others – doing what nourishes life and the self.
Fire: The spark of the soul, that which is connected to divine in all its forms – guides, nature, and souls – creation is in the depths, moving deeper into them.
Earth: Accept your role, all the elements of it, and being dominate within them (mastery).
Air: Exchange in the duality will help us stand our ground in the face of challenges.
Water: Being the Master of Voice, Souls, and Magic is the culmination of building the armor.
